You Are Special Little One
Written and Illustrated By: Nancy Tafuri

From playful lion cubs to curious penguin chicks, baby animals around the world ask a simple question: "How am I special?" Through the loving words of their families, children discover that every little one has unique qualities that make them wonderfully special.
Kirrily Koala encourages us to Be Present and Have an Awareness, noticing the special qualities that make each animal unique and recognising the wonderful strengths we all have inside us.
Elky Elephant helps us Be Ready and Engage, exploring different animal families, learning about their habitats and joining in conversations about what makes each of us special.
Pikkle Panda reminds us to Be Mindful and Thoughtful, encouraging children to celebrate one another's differences, use kind words and help every friend feel valued, included and loved.
Through this heartwarming story, children discover that kindness begins with recognising our own unique gifts and appreciating the wonderful qualities in others—just like the Kind-e-play Friends.
Extend the learning...
Create a "You Are Special" Nature Gallery using mirrors, natural treasures and art materials.
Invite children to look closely at themselves in a mirror before creating a self-portrait using leaves, flowers, sticks, bark, feathers or collage materials. Encourage them to talk about something that makes them special, whether it is a kind heart, a helpful nature, a curious mind or something they enjoy doing.
Extend the experience further by displaying each child's portrait in a classroom gallery. Invite friends to share kind words about one another, celebrating the unique strengths, talents and caring qualities that help everyone belong.
