Join five playful little kangaroos as they hop through a delightful Australian adventure inspired by the traditional nursery rhyme. With rhythmic repetition, engaging illustrations and familiar actions, children are encouraged to count, predict and join in the fun while celebrating Australia's unique wildlife.
Kirrily Koala encourages us to Be Present and Have an Awareness, noticing the different little roos, observing what happens to each one and discovering the repeating pattern throughout the story.
Elky Elephant helps us Be Ready and Engage, counting the little roos, joining in with the rhyme and confidently predicting what might happen next as the story unfolds.
Pikkle Panda reminds us to Be Mindful and Thoughtful, encouraging children to celebrate everyone's ideas, take turns joining in the rhyme and recognise that every little roo is important.
Through this playful Australian adventure, children discover that listening, counting and sharing joyful experiences together help build confidence, friendships and a love of learning, just like the Kind-e-play Friends.
Extend the learning...
Create a Little Roo Hop and Count Adventure using numbered stepping stones, hoops or kangaroo footprints placed around the learning environment.
Invite children to hop like little kangaroos from one number to the next, counting aloud as they travel through the course.
Extend the experience further by hiding five little kangaroos around the learning environment. Encourage children to work together to find each little roo, place them in the correct sequence and retell the story using their own words and actions. Invite children to create a new adventure for the little roos, building imagination, language and cooperative storytelling.
